The different styles

– Gentle

In gentle classes, you’ll mostly stay on the floor (seated or lying down). This intensity doesn’t involve strong muscle activation nor aerobic movements ; think more about slow somatic movement, self-massage and mindfulness practices.

– Moderate

The moderate intensity starts to tap more into dynamic movements, while offering an accessible pace that won’t make you out of breath. A moderate intensity can still be challenging, but without being too demanding.

– Active

Active classes are primarily focusing on building strength and stamina. They can include strong muscular activations, longer holds, external weights or aerobic movements, with different options to meet you where you’re at.

– Technique

To get more understanding of a specific movement and explore its components and form, technique-focused videos will give you the opportunity to (re)explore foundations and support you in your learning journey. Less flowy but more geeky.

Props Alternatives

Yoga block

Thick books are a great alternative to blocks. In most of the classes presented in the studio, you’ll be able to use a book instead of a block. For example, when we balance a block on the hand or foot, you can use a book or any object that you won’t fear will fall. When we sit on a block, you can use a stack of books or pillows.

Bolster

We’re often using a bolster as a way to have a bit more elevation and/or provide cushion for the body. Any pillow, stack of pillows or blankets can work perfectly for this purpose.

Blanket

When the purpose of a blanket is for slidding, if you have a slippery floor, you can use a towel, socks, or any cloth that you wouldn’t mind using to swipe the floor. When the purpose of a blanket is for support, you can use pillows as well.

Strap

To replace a strap, you can use a belt, a scarf or any long sort of cloth or towel. If you have resistance bands around, they can also replace yoga straps.

Weight

A bag is a good alternative to weights, since you can fill it with any item you have around in the house to adapt the load to your needs. Something like a bottle of water also works great, since you can also choose how much water you put in it.
