What ?

This class focuses on spinal segmentation, meaning moving the spine in a controled and articulated way. While moving mindfully and taking the time to introspect and turn our attention inward, we will explore this segmentation in different positions and build towards a wave-like movement.

Why ?

By learning to move our spines segmentally, we’re becoming more aware of compensations and blind spots we have in our spines. It’s these compensations and blind spots that can sometimes be a cause of discomfort in our backs; the more we can distribute the movement throughout the spine and not only rely on one point to move it, the more we’ll increase our mobility, comfort and ease of movement.

Props

A blanket or pillow to put under your knees (optional), a yoga block or bolster to sit on (optional).

Nota Bene

Don’t hesitate to film yourself doing your spinal segmentation ; there can be a difference between what we feel in our spines and what’s actually happening. Filming yourself is a way to get a better understanding of how your spine is moving.
