Tripod & quadruped – 35 min

Play Video
What ?

We’re continuing our exploration of floorwork by learning how to change level, from/to quadrupedal and tripedal positions. Shoulder rolls will be used as a mean of transition in this sequence that is also integrating elements of yoga.

Why ?

Learning how to change level fluidly to and from the floor is a big part of floorwork.

This sequence is helping to find more comfort when evolving on and off the floor, which is an important skill to practice for longevity and joint health.

Props

A pair of socks to slide on the floor (optional).

It looked like so much fun, but as an inexperienced floorworker I did struggle a lot to keep up with the pace 😅 maybe this lesson is still too advanced for me. The warm up was great though, as I could feel my ankles and wrists working nicely.

Hiya Noé! Thank you for replying ^^ I think even slower would have been better, especially at the end when all the moves are placed together. To get the pacing right, maybe it helps to ask someone to serve as a student and you teach them these moves to see how they are finding it.

I can imagine choreography is pretty difficult to teach and even harder when you can’t see whether your students follow along.

Another thing is that you could propose to re-watch or pause the video if it was too difficult to follow along.

Hope that helps. I think the idea is very cool, so please don’t feel discouraged ^^
