An in-depth warm-up followed by a tutorial to learn how to perform a simple shoulder roll.
A simple shoulder roll is one of the core movement in floorwork, so it can be handy to know it 😉
What I like about shoulder rolls in general, is that they can help remove mental blockages and fears, so they help us to develop more trust in our bodies and in our capacities. Moreover, since it’s often a move that we are comfortable performing as kids but that we tend to forget as adults, they add a sense of playfulness and fun in our practice.
A blanket to use as padding for your shoulders, a space of at least 2×2 meters, and eventually socks to make the sliding parts smoother.
One of the most important rule in floorwork is softness. When performing your shoulder rolls, practice landing your toes very gently and softly on the floor.
I have no problems with shoulder rolls over both, but for some reason I was really struggling with alternating between left and right XP It was a super fun practice though. In the props I would advice a large space so you don’t bump with your feet and hands against the wall ^^’ Great job as always!
Thank you very much for your feedback, I’m glad you had fun ! I will mention the space requirement in the props 🙂
