A fun and active class, with music, revolving around a yoga block – or a book. We’ll mainly target our lower bodies; expect your legs to work quite a lot 😉
PS : A foam block would be preferable – but not indispensable – because it’s lighter so it will tend to slide less.
Adding yoga blocks or books in our movement practice can be a great opportunity to work on our bodies’ proprioception (=sensing where the different parts of our bodies are in space). We can also create brain puzzles and fun movement challenges with them, which improves our attention and concentration, and therefore helps us retain skills better and improve our cognitive functions.
It has been shown that we learn more efficiently when we have fun in the process !
A yoga block (preferably a foam yoga block) or a book that is sufficiently wide and thick, but not too heavy.
Those 36 minutes where over in no time! But wow, I really struggled with this lesson >,< Eventually, I decided to use an imaginary block because the real one kept falling off my foot. Believe me, even without a block, it was quite a challenging lesson. Did enjoy it though & it unlocked so many muscles and thoughts I didn't know I had. 😀 Thanks again
Hehe, I indeed decided to spice up the videotheque with this one. The block party #2 offers more fluidity and less frustration – there aren’t as many opportunities for the block to fall in it 😉 I’m glad you enjoyed it though, and that you discovered new muscles ! Fun fact, I had quite a lot of muscle pain after filming this class 😀
Kai didn’t even want to believe you were able to turn on your belly and back while balancing a block on your foot XD I will definitely try out Block Party #2
It’s a movement that requires a lot of repetitions. The first time I tried it, I thought it was an impossible task ! It can also be more logical on one side – I’m definitely more comfortable doing it on my right side than my left side 😉
