What ?

A class that will mainly target your hamstrings to help you develop more strength and awareness in this muscle group. You will stay on your back the whole time, and you don’t even need a yoga mat. Expect a lot of sliding, and maybe some cramps.

Why ?

Our hamstrings are directly correlated with knee and hip movement. They are naturally strengthened when we walk, run or come from squat to standing for example. However, since most of us don’t walk tens of kilometers per day and don’t move as much as our ancestors use to, our hamstrings tend to be underused. That’s where targeted exercises can be interesting, because it loads our hamstrings so it contributes to their health – even if the exercises we’ll do are a different action than walking or running, which would be preferable since they are more “functional” movements, some load is still better than none.

Props

A pair of socks or a blanket if you have a slippery floor. If you don’t have a slippery floor, paper plates, smooth notebooks or plastic bags will do the trick.

Ohh! My right hamstring, definitely felt that. My left hamstring is still a sneak and tries to avoid the movement ^^
